ROME

Hello beloved readers.

how are you today?

Today I want to toast with you.

This toast is for the phone call from Rome that I received this morning.

As I have told you, my publisher Albatros Il Filo (www.gruppoalbatros.it) called me to organize a one-morning interview with me in Rome.
I will fly to Rome on March 18 and be ready for the interview the following day, March 19.
I will be interviewed for four of their programs: Sescrivendo, 10libri, Bookshelf and the radio broadcast La Luna e i Falò.
The TV programs are going to be on: satellite Sky 879 (viva l'Italia channel) and on digital terrestre (TivùSat 079). The radio will be on air: radio galileo (www.radiogalileo.it for streaming) every Tuesday and Thursday at 9:30 p.m.
But of course I will let you know when they will go on air. :)

I am quite excited about this. But I need to stay focused on the professionalism in all this.
I want to have fun in this new experience, moreover, I LOVE ROME!!! I will post pictures and written posts about my two Roman days. :)

This is all for today.

encounter your lost ego in a book.

NEWS FROM THE WEEKEND

Hi everyone!

So it is the end of a sunny/cloudy/windy Monday.
Going back to work was hard this morning.. getting used to weekends lately... :D

Anyway, here I am again, blogging.
During the weekend I worked for you and the blog, but the famous interview is not ready yet.
I will tell you in a couple of days.

I promised to keep you updated about BEA... and here are some news.
Do you remember I applied to be accepted as a blogger and get a totally free pass? Well, they got back to me and they asked more infos about me, and about the blog. I obviously replied. But eventually they explained that I unfortunately couldn't be accepted as a free attending blogger because I'm too new in it. And of course, I agree. I am not mad at that. It is just right.
I am also gathering further information about going anyway. I really want to attend the Expo, I really want to go to the Bloggers Conference and I do want to report every day to you the emotions I feel in that cultural environment. I would love to get news on new authors and tell you about them, new books and publications, new trends and new aspects. I will tell you more about this, step by step. I need your advice. Do you reckon it is worth the try? Do you think it will be interesting also for you? Let me know! It is so important to me to understand what you think. Anyone who has already gone there?

Another big news is Rome. I have a date, a have a booked flight... but I will tell you more about it tomorrow, since tomorrow in the morning I have a phone call with my publisher, Albatros Il Filo.
Rome, here I come!!!
:)

stay tuned! and, write yourself, take your time to read inside your soul.

Ciao a tutti!!

Sto raccogliendo maggiori informazioni e vi terrò aggiornati passo dopo passo.

BEA AND NEW BOOK ON MY NIGHTSTAND

Good evening my beloved readers!

How are you?

It has been a LONG LONG day, but here I am again!!! I cannot wait to write this post.

As I promised yesterday night, I will tell more about BEA in New York.
I have applied as a blogger, and I think they will be getting in touch with me soon in order to let me know if I'm in... I will keep you updated!
www.bookexpoamerica.com this is the website if you want to know more about it.
I think it would be a great opportunity for a book blogger and author to attend such a huge and important event. I would be like a kid, with my scratch book in one hand and a pencil in the other, mouth open, ready to capture every single input in the air! And imagine how many inputs there are in an Expo of that size! If I go, I will be posting daily my impressions and my suggestions for you.

But, dreams apart, tonight I am talking to you about the new book that is on my nightstand:
This is it:

The author is Ioan Grillo, published in the USA Otober 25, 2011. Published by Bloomsbury Press.
I am reading it in English and it is the first book by Grillo.
I particularly appreciated it because, from a linguistic and technical point of view, since I am a translator, I can get both English and Spanish (Mexican) words. It seems a silly aspect, but I assure it is quite important, and gives the reading a different beauty.
This book is not "nice", this book is hard, this book is REAL.
I have always been interested in actual events, and when I surfed the net and found this title, it immediately caught my attention and I HAD to buy it.
This is a book about the blood that is flowing on Mexico ground, but not only on it. It is a report about how drug trafficking became a major problem and cannot be easily ripped out from its roots.
I have started reading it a few days ago, and I will let you know how it goes on.
For the time being, I really love it. Interesting, catchy and well written. Adore it or hate it. Have you heard of it? You can follow the book also on Facebook and find it on amazon.com.
Have you read it? What do you think about it?
Your point of view is really important to me!!!!

Ok guys, need some rest now.
Sorry, my intention was to have a bilingual post starting from today, but I am too tired to write it in Italian.

As always, my advice is to open up your mind and to be a part of the book.
rewrite yourself, every day.

SYL NEW HAPPY ARRIVALS

Good evening!

How do you feel today?
I hope you feel great and joyful like I do.
I have no actual reason to feel joyful, since my mom is going through a real health problem and we are all affected by this, but I try every day to find something to feel good about.

My reason for today is that I will try to apply for the BEA Bloggers Conference. I will register online after having post this one. And I will let you know tomorrow about it!!!
For those who don't know about it, BEA is Book Expo America, (http://www.bookexpoamerica.com) and is a huge expo where there is a gathering of thousands of people who share the beauty and the passion of books. Moreover, in the 2012 edition they will give importance to a huge amount of topics: from kid's literature, to e-books, from self-publishers to author marketing... I mean... everyone should go!!!
I think I will go in any case, but let's see if they accept me as a blogger. (moreover, my poem book will be present there in the title list of my publisher!!). I would love to talk about the Expo in my blog if I went. So, let's try. And this is my happy reason for today. I feel sorry that today I will not talk about any book in my shelf, but I will another day. Promise!
Stay tuned, and show your support!
I have tons of topics I want to talk to you... and I would love to read your points of view which are really important to me.

I will be brief today cos my Macbook Air has low battery and I forgot the charger somewhere I do not remember... :(

Anyway... Another reason I am happy about today is that my Sal Y Limon bangles (from the poetry contest I already told you about) arrived today. I will post here some pics, tell me what do you think about them! I really love them, and I appreciate Sal Y Limon that has sent them to me so quickly! Thanks to Giorgia, from SYL, who is really nice and professional.

(I love SYL bangles at my feet ;) )

Along with my bangles SYL sent me its catalog: guys... go and visit their site: http://www.salylimon.com... it's amazing.. you will fall in love.

Now I have to go, going to gather infos about BEA.. and then let you know tomorrow.

have a nice night, with a good book, which is always silent and listens to you, even though it talks to you constantly, and try to catch the happy size of life, each day.

BOOKS AND SAL Y LIMON BANGLES

Good afternoon everyone!

How do you feel today? I hope fine. What book are you reading at the moment? In what language?

Today I want to introduce you to my personal book collection (a part of it at least) and to another aspect that you should know about me in order to understand my reading choices.

First of all here is a part of my books.

As you noticed, I have all kind of books. I do not have a specific fav type. I love reading about all the things that catch my attention. I buy every kind of book, most of all online. I love reading King novels and at the same time Nelson Mandela latest publication. I will, day by day, tell you about them all. Or at least the ones I love the most.
Another aspect that, maybe, you noticed from the picture, are my bangles and bracelets.
In today's post I will mention the Sal Y Limon bangles.
Sal y Limon is a Swiss accessories company, born from the friendship between Raffaella and Mehmet who, starting from 2009, share with all the fashion addicted like me ;) their passion for accessories, in particular bangles. I really love SYL bangles, they are colorful and they match every mood. In the pictures  you see three of them (I am awaiting a Valentine set that Sal Y Limon has just sent to me cos I won a poetry contest they organized on their Facebook page: http://www.facebook.com/SYL.Sal.y.Limon).

But the question is: what the heck have bangles to do with books? Well well well... THEY HAVE!!!
Fashion is one of the topics I like the most. I love getting informed on stylists and trends.
I therefore want to tell you about one of the best books I read about Coco Chanel (Coco Chanel - The legend and the life - by Justine Picardie).
This is a 335-page book about the greatest feminine stylist on earth. It is not just a biography, it is also a photo gallery that takes you by the hand and takes you walking alongside Gabrielle.
If you enjoy fashion, but actually, if you enjoy getting to know the grief of an entire life and the strength to be born again to be great, if you enjoy understating that a woman can become someone even among hard times, you should read this book. "An energy immediately flowed through me. I took new heart and decided to live".

Another picture here. This time you find here the books where there are the poems I wrote. "Straniera dentro" is the one which totally "mine" and I am really proud of it. I hope it will be soon translated. Again, here you can see Sal Y Limon bangles. <3

So, tell me what do you think about fashion in literature. Or if you have any books to suggest :)

thank you!

rewrite yourself. every single day.

PS
I am thinking of participating to the BEA.... any news?

HOWL

Good evening book lovers. How are you today?

Remember that in one of my previous posts I told you about Allen Ginsberg?
Well... today it came back to me with a message which I desire to share with you all.

I first met Allen Ginsberg and his fellows while studying at high school, my English teacher told us about that beat generation.
Later, on my way, when I was studying at university, I went to an exhibition about Fernanda Pivano. I'm sure you all know her. Since I am a translator, to me Fernanda is the beacon on the hill (to use a famous American expression) to look at in the stormy night of learning. She died in 2009 and she left a hole that no one can fill. Why is she so important now? Because she was so close to our dear Allen. She was the official translator of the Beat Generation authors, and moreover, she was a dear friend to them.

Allen Ginsberg, along with Jack Kerouac, William Borroughs and Gregory Corso, was a beating genious. Very often they were rejected and not understood.  William Carlos Williams once wrote about Ginsberg: "he was mentally much disturbed by the life which he had encountered. [...] he was always on the point of 'going away' [...]literally he has, from all the evidence, been through hell".

Now I just want to share with you the depth of what a little part of his blood stream, from Howl.

"with dreams, with drugs, with waking nightmares, alcohol and cock and endless balls, / incomparable blind streets of shuddering cloud and lightning in the mind..." (Howl for Carl Solomon)
"I have mystical visions and cosmic vibrations" (America)

and finally, one of my favs:

"backyard green tree cemetery dawns"

Can you feel the vibrating life in him? Can you actually see him writing? I do. I wish I transmitted an emotion, a feeling. buy this small book. It is something really strong.

This is it for today...
I just wanted to let you feel what I feel while reading a bit of Allen, who lived with his fellows of the San Francisco Renaissance first and of the Beat Generation later. They had the electricity in them, they were the first to express themselves for what they were: simply artists, simply poets, but first of all, men of an era that didn't understand the m.
So, let's never forget about them. Do not forget Allen and the others.

Good reading people, talk to you soon.

write yourself. every day.

Sunday night with Allen Ginsberg

Good evening,

it's the end of a nice and quiet Sunday here, spent watching movies with friends and having pizza with family. <3
While sipping a hot lemonade, I wanted to show you a little something about me.
http://www.ilfilo.eu/martinalunardelli/
this is a newly published book of poems I wrote during my youth and the beginning of the adulthood :) he he
Do you read poems? Do you like poetry? Which is your fav poet?
I personally love the Beat Generation... I have recently read (again) HOWL, by Allen Ginsberg. I strongly suggest you to take a look at him :)
Tell me what you think about my publications. :)

and have a happy Sunday night!

Tim Burton's Short Stories

Good morning everyone!
How have you been?
While taking a little break from the translation I'm working to, I want to post something special.
Here is one of my book purchases from my latest trip to Los Angeles.
Since I am a fan of Tim Burton's movies, I found this small and dark book and decided to buy it straight away.

Have you heard of that? Did you read it? What do you think about it? Which is your favorite story?
Let me know!!
