ON THE GIRLS' SIDE

Today I want to talk to you about one of the latest books I read.

It is an Italian publication by Loredana Lipperini: “Ancora dalla parte delle bambine”, introduced by Elena Gianini Belotti. Publisher Feltrinelli.

I feel like writing today’s post on this book since I thought a lot about the IWD and about the real condition of the woman in our world and in our society.  

What I was thinking about is the fact that very often we watch the news or we read articles on the net that report cases of violence against women, girls and young ladies all around the world, most of them are cases of physical or psychological violence, or famous cases of women who die while fighting the cause of freedom or human rights. But too often we do not give the correct importance to our own way of growing up, or of our behavior towards ourselves or towards our small future that are little girls.

I bought this book because I fell in love with the cover: Saint Barbie by Mark Ryden, 1994.

But when I started reading Loredana Lipperini’s book, I found out that the drawing on the cover was so realistic, so scaring… The book is sometimes a little exaggerated, but it conveys the  real idea of how our western society is developing (and not growing). Lipperini gives some important (and frightening) data and figures about the condition of the woman in Italy and in Europe. She tells us why it is so. The scaring fact is that the new generation of girls are behaving differently than the generation of their mothers. The goals and ambitions are increasingly different and if mothers’ aim in life was succeeding in working hard and have satisfaction and success in their work , since they wanted to redeem from the ancient way of thinking of the woman who do not work and must not have a thinking brain, little girls and young ladies or young mothers just lose their goals and forget the fight that has to be fought. The objective is becoming famous, being glamorous  but not necessarily using their brain.   I won’t tell you anything more about it… I wish you could read it. It is really fast-reading and also cheap!

This issue is really close to me, I am extremely interested in understating why women lose their focus, why on earth we have fought so much and for so long and now we are just giving it up. We are not helping our own society growing, we are not helping our future to be better, or to improve.

Come è andato il vostro weekend? Vi è piaciuto il mio ultimo post “Be born again”?

Oggi vi voglio parlare di uno degli ultimi libri che ho letto.

É un libro italiano scritto da Loredana Lipperini:  “Ancora dalla parte delle bambine”, introduzione di Elena Gianini Belotti. Editore Feltrinelli.

Ho tanta voglia di scrivervi di questo libro dato che ho pensato molto alla giornata internazionale della donna e alla condizione reale della donna nel mondo e nella nostra società. E a cosa pensavo? Riflettevo sul fatto che molto spesso le immagini e le notizie che percepiamo dai telegiornali e in internet riguardano casi di violenza fisica e psicologica sulle donne e sulle ragazze in tutto il mondo, oppure casi eclatanti di donne famose che muoiono (non necessariamente) lottando per la causa della libertà femminile e dei diritti umani. Ma troppo spesso non diamo il corretto peso al nostro stesso modo di crescere, o al nostro comportamento verso noi stesse e verso il nostro futuro, cioè le bambine.

Ho acquistato questo libro per prima cosa perché sono stata attratta dall’immagine di copertina: Saint Barbie di Mark Ryden, 1994.

Ma quando ho iniziato a leggere il libro della Lipperini, ho scoperto che l’immagine di copertina era talmente realistico, talmente orribile…  Il libro è talvolta esagerato, ma riesce perfettamente a trasmettere l’idea di come la società occidentale si stia sviluppando (e non crescendo!). Lipperini fornisce dati importantissimi (e terrificanti!) sulla condizione della donna in Italia e in Europa e ci racconta il perché è così. Il fatto che più mi fa paura è che la nuova generazione di bambine si stanno comportando diversamente da quella delle loro madri. Gli obiettivi e le ambizioni sono nettamente cambiate e invece di portare avanti quelle delle loro madri, di fare carriera, di lavorare sodo e di redimersi dalle tradizioni della società obsoleta dove la donna non necessariamente deve usare il cervello, le nostre bambine e giovani donne e madri hanno spostato il loro baricentro di interesse verso il glamour della società, verso la fama non necessariamente legata al modo di pensare e all’intelligenza.  Non vi voglio dire di più di questo piccolo libro… vi consiglio di leggerlo, è veloce e anche economico!

Questo argomento mi è molto caro, sono estremamente interessata a capire il perché le donne perdono il loro focus, perché abbiamo lottato così tanto e così a lungo e ora ci stiamo arrendendo, senza nemmeno rendercene conto. Non stiamo più aiutando la nostra società a crescere, non stiamo aiutando il nostro futuro ad essere migliore.
