BE CREATIVE (OR JUST LET YOURSELF GO?)

here I am again.

In today's post I want to tell you about the latest book I read (published in March 2012)
Here it is:

The author is Austin Kleon (you can follow him on Twitter: https://twitter.com/#!/austinkleon; on Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/Mr.Austin.Kleon and on his site: http://www.austinkleon.com/).

He is a writer and an artist and lives in Austin, Texas (you'll find more about him in the book and I will maintain this halo of mystery).

I found this book incredibly creative and inspirational. It presents 10 steps to take in order to become a real artist (or to develop the creative part that's inside of you). 

The book is divided in 10 small chapters:

1. steal like an artist

2. don't wait until you know who you are to get started

3. write the book you want to read

4. use your hands

5. side projects and hobbies are important

6. the secret: do good work and share it with people

7. geography is no longer our master

8. be nice

9. be boring

10. creativity is subtraction 

I won't tell you more about the content of each chapter, since I wish you want to buy the book and read it on your own.

I just want to say that it is really a fast-reading book, it is very smart and pragmatical and helps you in finding you way, or at least it gives great suggestions. 

If you think you are a creative person or an artist (or you're just curious), you should read this book, Austin is extremely clear and effective, I felt like he was reading my mind and addressing directly to me. 

To finish this post I quote from the book one of the parts I loved (actually, I loved lots of them...):

"Draw the art you want to see, start the business you want to run, play the music you want to hear, write the books you want to read, build the products you want to use - do the work you want to see done". Austin Kleon. 

Go on, guys! read it!!

Oggi vi voglio parlare del libro che ho letto tutto d'un fiato (pubblicato in Marzo 2012).

E' uno scrittore e un artista e vive ad Austin, Texas (ma non voglio svelarvi nulla più, scoprirete di più di Austin leggendo il suo libro... voglio mantenere l'alone di mistero). 

Trovo che questo libro sia incredibilmente creativo e d'ispirazione. Presenta 10 passi da compiere per diventare un vero artista (o per sviluppare la parte creativa che c'è in te). 

Il libro si divide in 10 piccoli capitoli: 

1. steal like an artist (ruba come un artista)

2. don't wait until you know who you are to get started (non aspettare di sapere chi see prima di cominciare)

3. write the book you want to read (scrivi il libro che vorresti leggere)

4. use your hands (usa le mani)

5. side projects and hobbies are important (i progetti secondari e gli hobby sono importanti)

6. the secret: do good work and share it with people (il segreto: fai un buon lavoro e condividilo con le persone)

7. geography is no longer our master (la geografia non è più un limite)

8. be nice (sii gentile)

9. be boring (sii noioso)

10. creativity is subtraction (la creatività è saper sottrarre)

Non vi voglio dire di più sul contenuto dei capitoli, vorrei che compraste il libro (non credo sia stato tradotto ancora in italiano) e lo leggeste. 

Vorrei solo dirvi che è un libro molto veloce da leggere, intelligente e pragmatico, e vi può aiutare a trovare la vostra strada, o almeno a darvi qualche buon consiglio. 

Se pensate di essere delle persone creative o artisti (o se siete solo curiosi), dovreste leggere questo libro, Austin è estremamente chiaro ed efficace, mi sembrava che Austin si dirigesse proprio a me. 

Per finire, vorrei citare una frase del libro che mi ha colpito (sono molte quelle che mi hanno colpita...):

"Disegna l'arte che vorresti ammirare, apri l'azienda che vorresti condurre, suona la musica che vorresti ascoltare, scrivi i libri che vorresti leggere, costruisci i prodotti  che vorresti usare - fai quello che vorresti fosse fatto". Austin Kleon.
