I am ok, in Italy we are enjoying a long vacation weekend :)

I apologize for not writing sooner.

Tonight I want to write about a book I ordered online some time ago.
The book is "Work in progress":

Karl Lagerfeld is a German fashion designer, artist and photographer born in 1933 in Hamburg (and like Chanel, he kept his birth date hidden!!). He is the head designer and creative director of the maison Chanel. 

He is one of the most creative men on earth, born a fashion designer and developing a huge sense of elegance and self-consciousness. 

But tonight I do not want to talk about the fashion designer, but about the book about his photographic side. 

He became a photographer of his own works when he felt the urge to take the pictures by himself after a disappointment by the press photographs of his latest collection. 

This book is a compendium of his best shots. 

You will find 188 pages of images taken by this fashion (and landscape) artist. The picture he takes are not easy looking at, but if you look close, you will find the artist and, most important of all, the man to the other side of the lens. 

There are models and landscapes, urban and architecture facades and natural elements.

I found it intriguing to watch closely to the work of this man who is mainly recognized for his fashion design work. This book was interesting to me, since when I looked through the pages and the images, I could feel I was looking inside Lagerfeld's eyes and imagination. (my fav is at pay. 90)

Io tutto ok, qui in Italia c'è un lungo weekend di vacanze :)

E mi scuso per non aver scritto molto :(

Stasera vi voglio parlare di un libro che ho ordinato online qualche tempo fa.

Eccolo qui: "Work in progress":

Karl Lagerfeld è un fashion designer, fotografo e artista tedesco nato nel 1933 ad Amburgo (e, proprio come Chanel, maschererà sempre la sua data di nascita!!!). Tra le altre cose, è direttore artistico alla guida della maison Chanel. 

Lagerfeld è uno degli uomini più creativi al mondo, nato fashion designer e con il tempo ha sviluppato un intenso senso dell'eleganza e di consapevolezza.

Ma stasera non vi voglio parlare del fashion designer, ma del libro che lo descrive come fotografo. 

Karl ha mosso i primi passi nella fotografia dopo una delusione per gli scatti ad una sua collezione. 

Quindi, questo libro è un compendio delle sue migliori fotografie. 

Troverete 188 pagine di immagini dello stilista. Le sue fotografie non sono "piacevoli" o facili da ammirare, ma se guardate da vicino, trasmettono le sensazioni dell'artista, e, aspetto molto più importante, dell'uomo dietro alla lente.

Ci sono modelli e modelle, paesaggi, facciate urbane ed architettoniche ed elementi naturali. 

Osservare il lavoro di quest'uomo, che è riconosciuto principalmente nell'ambito della moda, è stato infinitamente intrigante. Il libro è stato interessante per me, dato che, immergendomi tra le pagine, ho sentito che scivolavo nello sguardo di Lagerfeld e nella sua immaginazione.

VAMPIRES

Good evening to you all my dear readers and followers!

How are you today?

I will introduce in tonight's post an element that is extremely close to me.
Vampires. And I will write here about the King of Vampires... yes, indeed: Dracula.
I am not going to write about the masterpiece by Stoker, nope!

I will write about a more recent book: "In search of Dracula. The history of Dracula and Vampires. Completely revised", by Raymond T. McNally and Radu Florescu. The authors are the internationally recognized leading authorities on Vlad (the real name of the count) and Dracula and they often appear on radio and TV. They are (were as far as McNally is concerned, he died in 2002) emeritus professors at Boston College and, obviously, they teach courses on Dracula, the history of horror in literature and film.
It was first published in 1994, so it is not really a young book.

I decided to buy it (again, online!) and in the original language (English) because I have always been interested in the figure of Dracula and, more generally, about horror/real persons.
I was literally fascinated by this work. The book jacket is the following:

As you can see, it is an old image and it is not at all scary.

The book is divided in chapters: (I am not reporting, just summarizing) introducing the Dracula fiction and folklore, Bram Stoker and the Search of Castle Dracula, The history of Dracula (Tyrant from Transylvania), Prince of Wallachia, Crusador, the Castle, Dracula horror stories, historical Dracula (imprisonment and death), the empty grave, Vampirism, Bram Stoker. 

It is a scientific reading, so no novel here. Nevertheless, the topic is surrounded by mystery and therefore it is a nice reading. 

If you are interested, as I am, in this kind of topics, you will be pleased in finding an historical perspective in this book. And you will also lose yourself in the real (and fearsome) story of Dracula and his cruelties.
In the end of the book there is also a part dedicated to real historical persons (almost all monarchs) who were cruel and bloodthirsty (in the physical sense of the word, of course). Kings and queens, rich persons... And you will also read about traditions, and find out some data about what is believed to be the origin of a vampire and also who could be one. (for example, if you hate garlic, and your life is connected with number 7, two features of mine, you might be a vampire...).

What do you think? Maybe I am one of them too!! he he Just joking of course!!! :D

Vi voglio presentare un elemento che sento molto vicino a me.
I vampiri. E vi voglio scrivere del re dei vampiri.... sì, esatto: Dracula!
Ma questo post non sarà sul masterpiece di Stoker, no!

Vi scriverò di un libro molto più recente: "In search of Dracula. The history of Dracula and Vampires. Completely revised", di Raymond T. McNally e Radu Florescu (in italiano: Alla ricerca di Dracula).
Gli autori sono le autorità di rilievo riconosciute a livello internazionale su Vlad (il vero nome del conte) e Dracula e appaiono spesso in TV o alla radio. Sono (meglio dire erano, perché McNelly è deceduto nel 2002) professori emeriti presso la facoltà di Boston e, ovviamente, tenevano corsi su Dracula, storia dell'horror nella letteratura e nella filmografia.

Il libro è stato pubblicato nel 1994, quindi non si tratta di un'opera molto recente.
Ho deciso di comprarlo (di nuovo, online!) (e in lingua originale) perché sono sempre stata interessata alla figura di Dracula e,  più in generale, sui personaggi "misteriosi" realmente esistiti.
Sono affascinata dal libro. Ed eccone la copertina:

Come vedete, è un'immagine non recente e assolutamente non spaventosa. (Nella versione italiana è la seguente):

Il libro è suddiviso in capitoli (non elenco, faccio solo un breve riassunto): introduzione a Dracula e al folklore, Bram Stoker e alla ricerca del castello di Dracula, la storia di Dracula (tiranno della Transilvania), il principe di Wallachia, il Crociato, il Castello, le storie dell'orrore su Dracula, il Dracula storico (prigionia e morte), il mistero della tomba vuota, il Vampirismo, Bram Stoker.  

Il libro è uno scritto scientifico, nessun romanzo qui, ragazzi. Ciò nonostante, l'argomento è avvolto in un'aura di mistero e pertanto è una lettura molto appassionante. 

Se, come me, siete interessati a questo tipo di argomenti, sarete piacevolmente accompagnati da dettagli storici e prospettive reali. E vi ritroverete anche persi nella storia vera (e agghiacciante) di Vlad Dracul e le sue crudeltà indicibili (per davvero!!!).

Alla fine della pubblicazione c'è anche una parte dedicata a quei personaggi famosi e non realmente esistiti (molti di loro monarchi) che erano crudeli e assetati di sangue (nel senso stretto del termine, naturalmente). Re e regine, personaggi ricchi... E leggerete di tradizioni e di dettagli utili a capire come individuare un vampiro. (se, per esempio, odiate dalle viscere l'aglio, vi fa stare proprio male, e se la vostra vita è riconducibile al numero 7 (come me, nuovamente), potreste anche essere dei vampiri...).

Cosa ne pensate? Io potrei benissimo essere una vampira!!!! he he he scherzo ovviamente!!! :D

THE UNCOUPLING

Good evening dear readers!

Sorry for my absence.

As you know I went to Pisa for a very interesting translation course.
Really love it.

Tonight I want to talk about a book I found interesting and smart.
The book is "The uncoupling", written by Meg Wolitzer.
This is the jacket:

The book was published in 2011. I decided to buy it (online) and read it after I read an article on an Italian magazine I love (http://www.internazionale.it/) in the section of the books.

When the book arrived, the first thing that made me smile and feel comfortable with the new purchase was the jacket. It is kind of soft. You touch it and it feels like velvet. As you can see in the picture, it is extremely colorful, with dissolving images on the top and on the bottom and it is like being on an airplane watching down the neighborhood, or like flying.. or like being the wind itself, whirling over the city.
I was pleased in taking the book in my hands. I could smell the air too. So great choice for the jacket, dear Meg!!! I loved it.

But it's not over!
As soon as I started reading it I felt a strange sensation. It was an indefinite kind of story. I couldn't tell what I was going to read. A novel? A crime story? Who knew?
The novel analyses the case of this city, where all the women, one by one, lose the desire of having sex with their partners, with no age distinction, with no reason at all. All the girls stop feeling desire towards the physical aspect of love. And they are obligated to look inside of themselves and of their couples. They need to go back to what they were and what they have become. And looking in the most inner part of their souls, hearts and minds, they will discover a new light, and a new perspective, which is not just physical, of the love they experiment for their partners but, first of all, for themselves.

I won't tell you the end of the novel. It is really amazingly written. With no clue of what you will encounter in the next page.

I will not write more. I think the novel speaks for itself.

Chiedo davvero scusa per la mia assenza.

Ero a Pisa per un interessante corso di traduzione. 

Stasera vi voglio parlor di un libro interessante e intelligente. 

Il libro si intitola "The uncoupling"(non credo sia stato ancora tradotto in italiano), scritto da Meg Wolitzer.

Iniziamo dalla copertina: 

Il libro è state pubblicato nel 2011. Ho deciso di acquistarlo (online) e di leggerlo dope aver letto un article sulla rivista che prediligo (http://www.internazionale.it/), nella sezione dedicata ai libri. 

Quando il libro è arrival, il primo aspetto che mi ha fat to sorridere e sentire a mio agio è stata proprio la copertina. Come dire, è soffice. La tocchi e ti sembra fatta di velluto. Come potete vedere dalla foto, è  piena di colori, con immagini che si dissolvono sui due lati corti, è come essere su un aeroplano e guardare il vicinato dall'alto, o ancora sembra di volare.... oppure di essere il vento stesso, che soffia verso il basso e passa sopra le case. 

Mi sentivo soddisfatta, solo nel tenere quell'oggetto in mano. E si può anche sentire il profumo dell'aria! Quindi, cara Meg, ottima la scelta della copertina!! La adoro!!!

Ma non è tutto!

Non appena ho iniziato a leggere mi sono sentita strana. Non riuscivo a capire che tipo di storia fosse. Un romanzo? Un giallo? Chi lo sa?

Il romanzo analizza il caso di questa città, dove tutte le donne, una dopo l'altra, perdono ogni istinto e passione, desiderio sessuale verso il proprio partner, senza distinzione di età, senza motivo alcuno. 

Tutte le ragazze smettono di desiderare l'aspetto carnale dell'amore. E in un certo qual modo sono obbligate a guardare in loro stesse e alla coppia che formano con il loro partner. Hanno bisogno di tornare indietro a quelle che erano, e a cosa erano diventate. E grazie a questo sguardo dentro loro stesse, dentro la parte intima delle loro anime, cuori e menti, scopriranno una nuova luce, e una nuova prospettiva, che non sarà solo fisica, dell'amore che provano verso i loro partner ma, prima di tutto, per loro stesse. 

Non vi voglio svelare la fine del romanzo. Riga dopo riga scoprirete una penna incantevole. Non avrete alcun indizio su quello che troverete nella pagina successiva. 

Basta!!! Non scrivo più nulla!

A POEM OF MY OWN

Good evening readers!

How do you feel tonight?
How was your day?

In today's post I will introduce (for the first time this close) my poems.
I just want to share with you all what I wrote in the book, what is really me.
The book "Straniera dentro" (Foreign inside) contains 40 poems I wrote during 14 years (I wrote much more, but they are not published yet).
It is a little strange to me having these pieces of me published and people reading them, but it gives me a great satisfaction when a person contacts me and tells me he/she loves my poems.
Therefore, I want to publish one here tonight, and maybe I will write more poems here and there in the future.
Some of them were born in English, but I "had" to translate them into Italian for the publishing.
Here I will obviously write bilingual, as always.

Please, please.. let me know what you think about it.

I want to start with the poem that gives the title to the book:

RESTLESS

Feeling foreign inside

deep in the soul

being a stranger of the world.

Not satisfied in the existence 

restless in commonplaces

and in the too narrow spaces

transient flights 

from here, sudden and nostalgic dreams

of freedom.

When I write I poem, I never (never!) think about what to write. I get a rush of feelings in my brain and heart and I feel the urge of writing words down. Without really thinking about it. And this is one of the results. 

I have always felt, and still feeling every single day, I am not part of the life I am living. I am always looking for something different each moment and I often suffer about it. 

But my being foreign inside my soul is a positive attitude: I am always able to discover a new part of me each day.

Anyway... there is not much more to say...

Just let me know if you like or dislike it. 

It's so important to me!!!

Buonasera a tutti!

Come state oggi? Come è andata la vostra giornata?

Nel post di oggi voglio presentarvi (per la prima volta da vicino) le mie poesie.
Voglio condividere con voi quello che c'è dentro il mio libro... quello che sono io per davvero.
Il libro "Straniera dentro" contiene 40 poesie che ho scritto nel corso di 14 anni (in realtà ne ho scritte molte di più... ma non sono pubblicate ancora).
Per me è un tantino strano vedere quei pezzettini di me pubblicati, in mano a molte persone, ma è allo stesso tempo una grande soddisfazione quando un lettore mi contatta e mi dice che le mie poesie gli/le sono piaciute. Perciò ho deciso di pubblicarne qualcuna di tanto in tanto... Alcune di loro sono nate in inglese, ma per la pubblicazione le ho dovute tradurre in italiano.
Nel blog, ovviamente, compariranno in entrambe le lingue.

Fatemi sapere cosa ne pensate.

Voglio iniziare stasera con la poesia che ha dato il titolo al libro:

INQUIETI

sentirsi stranieri dentro

nel profondo dell'anima 

essere forestieri del mondo.

insoddisfatti nell'esistenza

inquieti nei luoghi comuni

e negli spazi troppo angusti

sfuggevoli fughe

da qui, repentini e nostalgici sogni

di libertà

Quando scrivo una poesia non penso mai (mai!) a quello che voglio scrivere. Ho solo una scossa lungo tutta la schiena, e il bisogno fortissimo di scrivere parole. Ed ecco, questo è uno dei risultati. 

Ho sempre sentito, e continuo a sentirla, la sensazione di non essere parte della vita che vivo. Sono in continua ricerca di qualcosa di diverso in ogni momento, e a volte ne soffro.

Ma il mio essere straniera dentro è anche quello che mi tiene in continua vita: rimanere un po' stranieri per riscoprirsi giorno dopo giorno.

ecco... non ci sono molte altre cose da dire..

MY DEAR FRIEND JONATHAN

Good Sunday afternoon readers!

How are you today?
I am working on a translation today and decided to take a break and write today's post :)

This weekend I feel nostalgia for my past as a child. For this reason yesterday I went visiting my elementary school teacher. I have always loved her and it is a great pleasure to meet her. She is very young and we share quite a lot of passions. (she also gave me a wonderful Louis Vuitton purse as a gift!!!!).

But apart from that, I went upstairs and decided to write todays' post talking about one of my favorite books. My mother first gave the book to me, and the following is the original jacket:

She told me to read it carefully, because it was an important book. And she was right. I fell in love with it and two years ago I decided to buy my own version:

The original title is: Jonathan Livingston Seagull.

It is an incredibly small book, full of amazing pictures by Russel Munson.

The author tells the story of this seagull, who finds out he loves to fly and to challenge his limits, going against what his fellow seagulls are used to and tell him to do.
The seagull goes on with his own ideas and in the end he succeeds in reaching the level he has always wanted to reach.

He later becomes a teacher for young rebel seagulls.
Of course this is a clear comparison with human life. The message Bach wants to send us is to never stop our curiosity, never stop improving. We have no limits, but the ones we decide we have.
The book is amazing and inspiring. I suggest you to read it.

Buona domenica a tutti, cari lettori!

Come state?

Oggi sono al lavoro, una traduzione, e ho deciso di fare una piccola pausa per pubblicare il post di oggi. :)

Questo weekend mi sento nostalgica dei bei vecchi tempi e momenti della mia infanzia. Per questo motivo sono andata a fare quattro chiacchiere con la mia maestra delle elementari. Sono sempre stata molto affezionata a lei, è molto giovane e condividiamo molte passioni (tra le quali le borsette!!! he he ed in effetti mi ha fatto un grande sorpresa: mi ha regalato una meravigliosa borsetta di Louis Vuitton!!!!)

A parte questo, sono andata in camera e ho scelto di scrivervi di uno dei miei libri preferiti. 

La prima volta che l'ho preso tra le mani è stato quando la mia mamma mi ha detto di leggerlo con estrema attenzione, perché si trattava di un libro incredibile.

Questa è la copertina dell'edizione che ho letto per la prima volta:

E aveva poprio ragione.. è un libro speciale. Tanto che qualche anno fa ho deciso di acquistare la mia copia personale: 

Il libro è molto piccolo e contiene tante foto di Russel Munson. 

L'autore ci racconta la storia del gabbiano Jonathan, che scopre di amare il volo e mette alla prova i propri limiti, andando contro le norme degli altri compagni gabbiani, abituati a mangiare e dormire sulla spiaggia. 

Il gabbiano persevera nelle sue convinzioni, fino ad abbattere tutte le barriere fisiche e mentali, per poi diventare maestro dei gabbiani  ribelli come lui. 

Ovviamente, questo è un chiaro rimando alla vita umana. Il messaggio che Bach ci vuole mandare è di non fermarci mai, non mettere limiti alla nostra curiosità e a migliorare di continuo. Non abbiamo limiti, a parte quelli che decidiamo di avere. 

Il libro è meraviglioso e vi consiglio di leggerlo.

Ecco qui alcune citazioni:

"Egli imparò a volare, e non si rammaricava per il prezzo che aveva dovuto pagare. Scoprì ch'erano la noia e la paura e la rabbia a render così breve la vita d'un gabbiano. Ma, con l'animo sgombro da esse, lui, visse contento, e visse molto a lungo".

"Diceva che è giusto che un gabbiano voli, essendo nato per la libertà, e che è suo dovere lasciar perdere e scavalcare tutto ciò che intralcia, che si oppone alla sua libertà, vuoi superstizioni, vuoi antiche abitudini, vuoi qualsiasi altra forma di schiavitù".

Tonight there will be no nook reviews.
Tonight I want to tell you about a special experience I could do thanks to a friend of mine.

He introduced me to a special woman.
She is amazing. As soon as I entered her place I was astonished by her apartment walls: full of books.
Others hosted wonderful and extravagant pictures of all sizes, of all colors.
Once you stepped into her second floor, you are welcomed by poems hand written on the walls, books again and colors everywhere. She is a colorful woman herself.

She prepared some cheese and we sipped a good Prosecco and tasted honey and mint sauce.
We talked about a handful of topics, and she told me about her amazing family and every single word was rich of meaning. We share one important aspect: we both love words. We both adore the strength words have and the beauty they can have if used in the correct way.

I wanted to share with you my joy and to tell you about this person, because she is the very first one I've ever met with such an intensive culture, such a natural charm. She is like a book to me, this is why I am writing about her.

Stasera non ci saranno recensioni di libri.
Vi voglio invece parlare del singolare incontro che ho fatto stasera, grazie ad un amico.

Mi ha infatti presentato una sua amica, una donna speciale.
Una volta nel suo appartamento, la prima cosa che ti colpiscono sono le pareti: libri ovunque, e dove non ci sono libri, trovi quadri di ogni dimensione ma di un certo carattere. Colore.
Al secondo piano i muri sono tappezzati di poesie che lei stessa ha scritto a mano. E colori ovunque. Lei stessa è colore.

Ha preparato del formaggio e abbiamo sorseggiato un Prosecco e assaporato miele e salsa di menta.
Abbiamo parlato molto, e mi ha raccontato una piccola parte della storia della sua famiglia. Ogni parola era ricca di significato. Condividiamo un aspetto importante: entrambe amiamo le parole. Entrambe adoriamo la forza che le parole hanno e il ruolo che rivestono se usate correttamente.

Volevo solo condividere con voi la gioia di tale incontro, perché lei è la prima persona con una cultura così incredibile, e con un charme così naturale. Vi ho parlato di lei perché per me è come un libro.

voglio aggiungere che LEI ha gli orecchini più belli che io abbia mai visto in vita mia!! E li disegna LEI!!!!

Hi everyone!

how are you doing?

I hope you are ok.

Today I want to write a post about the book I have started reading two days ago.

This is the book:

This is the latest book written by Stephen King. 

He is one of my favorite American writer. I have started reading it translated into Italian, but later I decided to see how it was in the original language. And I have never stopped. 

I have read 66 pages in a few hours. And I have to say that usually King creates his background and landscape in much more pages, but this time he managed to build the right environment in a few pages and the action is immediate. 

The story is about getting back in time and save JF Kennedy's life... interesting, uh?

Great author, 849 pages. Can't wait to have more time to go on reading!!! I will be able to tell you more about it.

Oggi vi voglio parlare brevemente del libro che ho appena iniziato a leggere.
Eccolo qui:

Questo è l'ultimo libro di  Stephen King. 

King è uno degli autori statunitensi preferiti. I primi libri che ho letto erano in italiano, ma con il passare del tempo ho deciso di testarlo in inglese... e non ho più smesso.

Finora ho letto 66 pagine, in poche ore. E devo dire che stavolta King ha avuto un approccio diverso. 

Generalmente crea il contesto in molte più pagine, invece in questo libro l'azione inizia da subito, o quasi!

La storia ha come obiettivo quello di andare indietro nel tempo e salvare la vita di JF Kennedy... interessante, no?

Grandissimo autore, 849 pagine di emozioni. Non vedo l'ora di avere più tempo per continuare a leggere e farvi qualche commento in più :)

TRE CARATI

Good afternoon beloved readers. 

Yesterday I read a super smart book and I do want to talk to you about it. 

The book is written in Italian by an Italian journalist, Paola Jacobbi, who also works for Vanity Fair. 

Published in 2011 it is a small book, with a light blue (similar to Tiffany Blue) jacket. 

The publisher is Sperling&Kupfer. 

The author is this beautiful woman, (you can follow her blog on http://blog.vanityfair.it/author/paolajacobbi/) and a skilled journalist and writer. 

I decided to buy this book because I was caught by the jacket: light blue, an enormous ring on it, and inside the engagement, a woman. 

I thought it would be a light reading, relaxing and not really pretentious. 

Yesterday, after reading the last page of "El Narco. Inside Mexico's Criminal Insurgency" by Ioan Grillo, I went upstairs, and sat in front of my book shelves. I wondered the various books with the eyes and in the end I decided to pick up "Sotto i tre carati non è vero amore" (translated it would sound: Under three carats it is not real love). As I started reading the first pages, I found out what would be a great book. It is the story of the importance of jewels in society and, in general, in the personal life of everyone of us (men included!). It is smart, clean and incredibly funny. Paola has interviewed a lot of VIPs during her career, and she fills in the pages with cute examples and references to important people of all ages. She also underlines the different meanings of different jewels. Why we should choose a collier rather than a long necklace and so on. 

The book is simply intelligent, super funny and really worth-reading. Inside the book there are also many nice drawings. I read the book in a couple of hours. I laughed a lot and I am now reviewing it because I really loved it. 

I love jewels and I felt comfortable while reading her book, because I had the impression to be a part of the same world, that started ages and ages ago and still goes on unchanged: women (and men) adore jewels. 

People, "Sotto i tre carati non è vero amore" is a great book. Don't know actually if it was translated.

Ieri ho letto un libro super intelligente e ve ne voglio parlare. 

Il libro è scritto in italiano da una giornalista italiana, Paola Jacobbi, che lavora per Vanity Fair.

Pubblicato nel 2011, il libro è piccino e ha una copertina blu (molto simile al Tiffany Blue). 

La casa editrice è Sperling&Kupfer. 

L'autrice è una donna molto bella, (potete seguire il suo blog su: http://blog.vanityfair.it/author/paolajacobbi/) e una giornalista molto capace. 

Ho deciso di acquistare questo libro perché sono stata attirata dalla copertina appunto: questo blu chiaro, un enorme anello e dentro all'anello una donna. 

Ho pensato che sarebbe stata una lettura iper leggera, senza pretese.

Ieri, dopo aver letto l'ultima pagina di "El Narco. Inside Mexico's Criminal Insurgency" di Ioan Grillo, mi sono piazzata davanti alla mia libreria e con gli occhi mi sono messa a scorrere tutti i titoli non ancora letti e alla fine ho deciso di scegliere "Sotto i tre carati non è vero amore". 

Una volta lette le prime pagine ho scoperto che è un ottimo libro. E' la storia dell'importanza che i gioielli rivestono nella società e, in generale, nella vita personale di ognuno di noi (ometti inclusi!). 

E' una pubblicazione intelligente, pulita e incredibilmente divertente e acuta. Paola ha intervistato, nel corso della sua carriera, molti VIP e nelle pagine fa spesso riferimento a loro e al loro rapporto con i gioielli, ma non solo, parla anche degli uomini e donne dell'antichità. 

Sottolinea inoltre la differenza che c'è tra gioielli diversi, il perché dovremmo scegliere un collier invece che una collana lunga e così via. 

Il libro è veramente intelligente, super simpatico e vale la pena di essere letto. All'interno del libro troverete anche dei disegni molto carini. Io l'ho letto in un paio d'ore, ho riso tantissimo e ora sono qui a recensirlo a modo mio perché l'ho adorato. 

Mi piacciono molto i gioielli e mi son sentita bene durante la lettura, perché ho avuto l'impressione di essere una parte dello stesso mondo, che ebbe inizio secoli fa e che continua ancora oggi, invariato: donne ( e uomini) che adorano i gioielli (belli). 

Ragazzi, "Sotto i tre carati non è vero amore" è davvero un bel libro. Non ho idea se sia mai stato tradotto. Vi dirò.

RAIRISH

I feel gloomy, my mood perfectly matches the weather out of my room.

I have just finished a good book.
A couple of days ago I went for a walk with Laura. She was my high school English teacher, the one who gave me my first bad mark in my first English test, but she is the one who made me love English and that helped me pursuing my dreams. She is the one who has always told us to be adults, to think with our own brain and to express ourselves. She is Laura.
She thought me different aspects of cultures different than the one I was used to. She was the one.
We walked and chatted with Kobe, her dog. It was, as it always is, a pleasant walk, full of good and sincere talking. I always love it.
She also gave me her book. She moved to Ireland, after my high school degree.
During her stay she wrote a blog about her life there. Now, after 6 years and while reading it again, she decided to print it out using ilmiolibro.it. The money she rises from the sale of the book will be given to charity, an aspect that has always been pivotal to her.

The book is the following:

the title is RARISH.

This is a transcription from her blog, therefore the style is the one typical of the bloggers: small posts, with a date and a topic to talk about.
I know Laura, and reading her book is like reading the story of a part of life of a good friend.
The style is urban, fresh and smart. Laura talks about cultural, political (of that time!), educational, personal (and much more!!) topics. She tells what happens and what she feels living in a country that is not you homeland. She glimpse differences, good and bad aspects of the same society. Since she is Italian, she obviously compares the two Countries and offers her personal point of view on different aspects. She adores the Irish sea... it is her best friend there, she feels its mood and she gets addicted to it.
In the book there is real life, there is real humor, there is real sadness and real feelings.
It is an extremely personal publication and Laura decided to print it out on her own, the expenses are only hers and the money will go to India for Charity purposes.

Buon pomeriggio lettori, 

come va oggi?

io mi sento cupa e grigia, proprio come il tempo fuori dalla mia finestra. 

Un paio di giorni fa ho fatto due passi con Laura: la mia insegnante di inglese al liceo. Laura, colei che mi ha assegnato un brutto voto nel mio primo test di inglese, colei che mi ha fatto innamorare dell'inglese e che mi ha aiutato a seguire i miei sogni. 

Mi ha insegnato diversi aspetti di culture diverse da quella alla quale ero abituata (pur sempre amando quella statunitense, per esempio). Laura è colei che ci faceva fare compiti in classe "stile anglosassone", come lo chiamo io. Laura è colei che ci ha sempre insegnato a pensare con la nostra testa, e ad esprimere sempre i nostri punti di vista. Lei è Laura. E' stata, come sempre, una piacevolissima passeggiata con lei e Kobe, il suo cane. Una passeggiata serena con chiacchiere sincere. Come se ne trovano sempre meno. 

Mi ha anche dato il suo libro. L'anno successivo al mio diploma, Laura si è trasferita per un paio di anni in Irlanda, da dove ha scritto un blog. Ora, dopo 6 anni, rileggerlo le ha fatto venire la voglia di pubblicarlo tramite ilmiolibro.it. Il ricavato dalla vendita del libro andrà in beneficenza, un aspetto che le è sempre stato a cuore.

Il libro è il seguente:

il titolo è RAIRISH. 

E' una trascrizione di 107 pagine del suo blog, quindi lo stile è quello urbano, tipico dei blog: piccoli post, con data e argomento. 

Conosco Laura, e leggere il suo libro è stato come leggere la storia di una cara amica. 

Lo stile, come già detto, è veloce, fresco e acuto. Laura affronta temi di cultura, politica (del tempo), di istruzione e anche personali. Ci racconta cosa succedeva e cosa provava a vivere in un paese che non era la sua madrepatria. Fa il punto della situazione su differenze, pro e contro della stessa società. Dato che Laura è italiana, ovviamente fa una comparazione tra i due paesi e offre il suo spunto personale sui diversi aspetti. (il che è interessantissimo, molto curioso per coloro che vogliono saperne di più sull'Irlanda).

Laura adora il mare irlandese.. è il suo miglior amico, che impara a conoscere, ne percepisce l'umore.

Il libro trasuda di vita vera, di vero humor, di tristezza reale e di sentimenti veri.

E' una pubblicazione totalmente personale, e Laura ha deciso di pubblicarlo totalmente a sue spese. 

I proventi raccolti andranno in India per beneficenza.

THE END OF "EL NARCO"

One of the most interesting and touching books I have ever read.

I have just finished reading this book, as you know:

Oh well… it was a hard reading. I mean it was not easy to read some passages of this book, since I was not “prepared” of the entity and brutality present in its pages. 

I found myself silently crying on the pages, while reading of a kidnapped and tortured kid, of mothers who kiss their sons’ corpses.

There is no need to write a lot of words about this book. I just loved it in its totality.

I suggest you to read it, and if you do, write me what you think about it. Or if you have suggestions about other interesting books, just let me know.

I simply want to finish today’s posts with a quote from El Narco, words by Ioan Grillo.. a wish for everyone of us.

“This is a new son for the one that was lost. His mother has put hope in the fresh blood to grow up and make a better world than the one that killed his brother. We have to put our hope there too”.

Uno dei libri più interessanti e ben scritti che io abbia mai letto.

Ho appena finito di leggere questo libro, come ben sapete:

Non è stato facile… Voglio dire, non è semplie leggere alcuni passaggi di questo libro… Non sempre ero preparata alle barbarie presenti nelle sue pagine.

Mi sono ritrovata, spesso, in lacrime mentre leggevo di ragazzi rapiti e torturati, di madri che baciano i cadaveri dei propri figli.

Non serve scrivere molte parole su questo libro. L’ho adorato nella sua totalità.

Vi suggerisco davvero di leggerlo e se lo farete, ditemi cosa ne pensate. O se volete suggerirmi altri titoli interessanti quanto questo, non temete!

Voglio infine citare le parole conclusive di Ioan Grillo, un augurio per tutti noi:

“This is a new son for the one that was lost. His mother has put hope in the fresh blood to grow up and make a better world than the one that killed his brother. We have to put our hope there too”.
